EQUINOX 800 HOW TO RUN IT for relic hunting:
Power on your machine, do not fool with park
or field modes just make sure your machine is set to all metal. Once your in all metal go ahead and auto noise cancel..
1. Next select auto ground balance once the machine selects the ground number your going to remember that number and then manually ground balance that number and add +2 to +4 to it. (Example ground number is 35 you will manually select 35 the add to it for an end result of 39.
2. Do not run any iron bias
3. Run your sensitivity as high as possible while remaining stable! This is very important as the equinox seems to lose depth when unstable
4. Recovery speed you need to understand this is a trade off, the higher your number say 8 the less depth you will get but faster response, we have found that 3 is the optimal setting in medium iron, if you don’t feel your getting enough separation bump to 4 and give it a go, if your in a camp with very little iron or trash bump down to 2 or even 1 for more depth this is going to be a site to site setting, but 3 performs best for us.
5. YOUR READY TO DIG
I have found that running the sensitivity to high in the iron can cause more iron falsing. I usually stay 20-22 in the iron and higher in more open areas if I can. What do you think, Jeremy?
